Michael Jackson (1958-2009)
What a strange and sad day. Michael Jackson was possibly the greatest (and definitely the most influential) artist of our time. He’s one of my biggest and first musical influences, and I know that to be true for many many people. I hope he’s in a better place and can finally be at peace. I feel like he was very misunderstood. I’m taking comfort in the fact that his music will live forever… – Amy

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?
There’s some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I’d like to clear up some confusion in the press. As our fans already know, Ben Moody left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence came out with a follow-up to Fallen in 2006. It was called The Open Door and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. The Open Door has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. We’re currently working on new material that I’m extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don’t see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it’s worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music next year… -Amy

No commentsJohn Lee on Kris Allen (NWANews.com)
Little Rock resident John Lee, who encouraged his young friend Allen a year ago to audition for the show, knows a little about what awaits Allen. Lee’s daughter Amy shot to fame as a twentysomething with her rock band, Evanescence. “He’ll develop a thicker skin,” Lee said matter-of-factly as he watched th finale from his west Little Rock home. “And you’ll never see him this innocent and naive again.” Lee also offered some advice: “Don’t spend your money until it’s in your hands. Make sure you invest in brick-and-mortar things, not fancy cars. You have to sell a ton of records to realize a profit. And get a really good financial adviser. You have to find someone you can trust.” As the show drew to a close, with Allen crowned the victor, Lee had one last thing to add. “Here’s the bad news,” he said as Allen sang the last song of the evening. “He has to sing this song 10 million times.” Continue reading…
