Little Rock resident John Lee, who encouraged his young friend Allen a year ago to audition for the show, knows a little about what awaits Allen. Lee’s daughter Amy shot to fame as a twentysomething with her rock band, Evanescence. “He’ll develop a thicker skin,” Lee said matter-of-factly as he watched th finale from his west Little Rock home. “And you’ll never see him this innocent and naive again.” Lee also offered some advice: “Don’t spend your money until it’s in your hands. Make sure you invest in brick-and-mortar things, not fancy cars. You have to sell a ton of records to realize a profit. And get a really good financial adviser. You have to find someone you can trust.” As the show drew to a close, with Allen crowned the victor, Lee had one last thing to add. “Here’s the bad news,” he said as Allen sang the last song of the evening. “He has to sing this song 10 million times.” Continue reading…
