She was meeting a few of her friends at a restaurant when a guy she barely knew looked into her eyes and asked her "Are you happy?". She knew that she truly wasn't, and those simple words really struck her. That is how the opening lines to the song "Bring Me To Life", "how can you see into my eyes like open doors..." came about. ... continue reading...

FOR GIRLS ONLY Posted around October 14, 2004
• okay, I can’t believe I’m being the expert hair consultant here, but I just can’t believe you guys really think I have straight hair! My natural hair is like in the my immortal video. I know how frustrating it is to get your hair really really straight, and I’m kindof obsessed with japanese fashion, so after trying lots of different methods over the years, this is what Beth and I have discovered works best on my frizzy, kinky, Janis Joplin hair:
• I shampoo and condition with goldwell kerasilk (get it at a salon). Its awesome and keeps it really shiny and healthy. If you cant afford this, dont worry. The styling part makes more of a difference than the washing part (dont tell beth I said that!!) Then I either blowdry it (which on my hair takes too long and my arm feels like its going to fall off) or just let it dry naturally. Then, I straighten it with a “chi” flat-iron. Before I straighten each section, I spray it with the most awesome product in the world of straight hair, the one thing i cant live without! – sebastian “laminates”. It’s a straightening hairspray. DO NOT FEAR THE WORD HAIRSPRAY! It doesnt make your hair sticky and stiff. It makes it silky soft when the heat of the iron activates it. just dont forget to brush after ironing the piece (its crispy at first). So with each piece, comb, spray, iron, comb. Thats it. No leave ins, pommade, or dear god- extentions. God i sound like an infomercial! I guess through having long hair for so long Ive learned alot. *sigh* you boys wouldnt understand this but frizzy hair sucks… especially when its like, three feet long. love,
a totally sissy girlygirl who will probably get picked on for this post,

• ps- chi irons may be stylist only, if you cant get one or get someone at a salon to order one for you, just get the hottest straightening iron you can find. careful you dont fry your hair!
IN REPLY TO ‘IS IT EMBARRASING HAVING YOUR PICTURE TAKEN ALL THE TIME?’ Posted around October 14, 2004
• Its a very rare occurance that I like a picture of myself singing. I do alot of weird, subconcious things with my face and neck to reach notes and put different feelings into them, plus I get all red and sweaty when Im stomping around and stuff, but I’d rather sound good than look good. No I don’t like those pictures, but I’m not embarassed about them. I know I’m not a hideous troll.

IN REPLY TO ‘AMY – HOW DO GET THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL?’ Posted around October 14, 2004
• Dear Francesca, They were pretty bad to me at school, too. I went to seven different schools growing up because my dads job caused us to move all the time. I remember my first week at a new school in jr. high, I didn’t know anyone so I just sketched stuff in an art journal during break and lunch and whenever everyone else was socializing. Then, within a couple of days of this, I went to the bathroom, leaving my art journal on my desk. When I came back, it was destroyed. All of my sketches were torn up and crumpled all over the floor. I looked at a girl next to me and said, “what happened??” I remember her saying, blank and indifferent, “oh, christina did it. She doesn’t like the way you dress.” HA! Yes, I ate many a lunch in the bathroom stall or in the empty football bleachers. How did I get through it? I found my thing – music. I loved music. I listened to it all the time and it made me feel good. Then I started writing my own, and that made me feel even better. It still hurt me when they were cruel to me, but I had something that I loved – a whole world – that they couldn’t touch, couldn’t even imagine, and that made me strong. Just don’t make school your whole life. Have something of your own, something you can look forward to every day, away from school. A hobby, an instrument, some weird art project, even just a little pet or something. Just hold your breath and get through it, Francesca, it does get better.

IN REPLY TO ‘CONCERT SONG ORDER’ Posted around October 14, 2004
• Actually, picking the order takes alot of thought. The key of the songs is a big part of it, because different songs have different guitar tunings, and if you play a few in a row in the same key, you don’t have to stop to change guitars. Also, the piano songs are side by side because otherwise we’d have to pause the show to set up the piano more than once. And yeah, the middle of the set is the best place to sit down and catch my breath. Its a sauna in those lights! Often a sauna in a leather corset… Also you just want to set up a setlist with the best impact, drawing you in at the beginning and keeping your interest until the end. make sense?
